"Marche Puce" of Paris

Paris is famous for Marche Puce, means the flea market. The market at Clignancourt is the most famous one and the biggest in the world, however it's too far away from my home. I went to the flea market at Porte de Vanves this morning, where much closer and also very famous.

The Marche Puce, unlike vintage stores, mainly sell antiques. The antique paintings, antique cooking tools, antique cameras, antique farming tools... Everything is so interesting. I brought camera with me, but however, it was so freezing this morning, I did not took any photos. What a pity; but I still have time!

I got 3 vintage bags and 2 brooches which are soooooooo beautiful.

A 1960s handbag. So sweet the bling bling outer! I like suitcase-like bags.

This is the my very first vintage bag from flea market. I think it's not so antique, but very nice in condition. The  chain and the buckle is so beautiful!

This is the most beautiful bag I'd ever seen in Paris! Karl Largefeld vintage bag, with pearl chain and beautiful handle. So gorgeous and ladylike! I am looking forward of the spring and match it with my beautiful floral dresses!

These two brooches are presents for my sweet friend TT. He needs some "refinement of details" and these brooches are perfect for his coats and suits. 

This sword, I do not know the exact meaning of it, but I guess it should be certain symbol.

A brooch with an portrait photo of a military officer. The seller said this is produced in 1900s. I am so curious about the former owner of this brooch, was it belong to an old couple who missed their son in the army, or a young lady who missed her lover? 

Pre-Halloween!

To tell the truth... I'd never had an experience of having a Halloween party!! To me, Halloween seems to be things about pumpkin lamps, candies and zombies... Anyway, thanks to Edouard and Ancsi, I finally got a chance to have a "pre-Halloween" party with fun guys..

Guys from western Europe prefer have some vin rouge or vin blanc for party. Unlike the Est-Europeans and Americans who like vodka... I like vin blanc, yeah...

 I told guys some "horror stories" in China. They got shocked!! Really, they got shocked!!! They were scared!!!! They said we do not believe in ghosts or spirits... we believe in science! I said yeah we all believe in Sciences Po... huh?

It was 2:46am after the party and I can not catch a metro. So I chose the night bus! It's crowded and I got a chance to explore the night-Paris! I got to transfer to another bus at Châtlet,then luckily, I happened to met a gorgeous night scence of Cité...

Homelike Gathering

Paris is getting colder, and she is stepping into the winter gradually. I heard that this winter, northern hemisphere is going to face the most freezing winter in nearly one thousand years... Will that be true? I thought that Paris would be a mild and warm place during winter because it has the weather that influenced by warm Atlantic Ocean! But I had a sunny Friday though, not that chilly.

We had a get-together in Edourd's, his room is just in front of Monmartre Cemetery. If if was in China, I won't dare to live so close to a cemetery; but here, as the tombstones are in different styles and it was brightened by the moon and the street lamp, it was not so scary. Under each tombstone, there is a man sleeps. He passed away and was buried, but I believe that his soul had already went to a place with freedom.

No matter he was a king or a beggar when he was alive, everyone's body would become ash in earth.

On Edouard's bookshelf, I found novels by Wang Xiaobo and Mo Yan. I like Wang's books, "Bronze Age". "Silver Age" and "Golden Age". And we girls like to talk about his romance in Pittsburgh. One of my girlfriends even went to University of Pittsburgh to seek her master's degree in literature just because she is so in love with Wang. Though sharing the same name "Xiaobo", Wang Xiaobo is totally different from the Nobel Peace Prize winner Liu Xiaobo; Wang is rather a philosophical thinker about the world. By the way, Wang had dead nearly 20 years ago in a traffic accident.

So many beer bottles! And I like this road sign of 18th district. Once 18th means unsafe and chaos to me, but now I think on the other side, 18th is a district filled with sense of art and life.

Is it a ground-hog or something? Anyway, Edouard introduced it to us, it's from one of his friend in Swiss. This cute guy can even sing songs if you press its stomach!

Here is our potluck meal: Floriane made the pizza, I made the tea-eggs, Kyroline made the Norwegian wedding-dish and brown cheese, Soo-Rae made the vegetarian salad and ice cream, Edouard made the Italian style fried eggplant... And we drank lot of  vin rose and wine and orange juice and tea!!!

I love to chat with friends for all night long rather than party with noisy music, alcohol and even drugs... This kind of gathering makes me feel that we are not only friends, but are all members in a big FAMILY!!

Yes, Paris, I won't feel lonely any more.

可能是台湾记者提问：中国在得知刘晓波获奖之后可能如何反应？主席提到在二战之后美国成为一个大国，全世界都在讨论美国应当成为什么样的大国。因此，中国在走向大国之路上也应该接受异见。

记者提问：你认为中国会像数十年前否认达赖喇嘛得奖一样否认此次结果吗？主席说：我不知道。假如我们不将奖授给刘，就是我们对人权的背叛，尤其是对中国人权现状的背叛。

问：是否接触了中国官员或刘的夫人？答：尝试与中国大使联系，但是他并不在挪威。

亚洲记者：你颁奖给了奥巴马，因为他是一个专注于人民生活质量的社会工作者。又把奖颁给了刘，一个专注于人权的社会工作者。今后的颁奖趋势是怎样？主席含糊地说了一句话，没听清。

主席：我们无法致电刘晓波及其夫人，我们正在与中国联系，请他们转告刘先生。

问（可能是台湾记者）：此次授奖将会如何影响中国人权发展？主席：分为短期和长期。可能会对于在世界范围内于人权层面处于困境的人，如南非、越南的人产生即时的影响，但是从长期来说很漫长。

记者：刘和夫人无法前往奥斯陆领奖？主席：我们会举行一个美好的典礼来引起全世界的注意。希望能邀请到有关人士来参加。

Rêve de Reims

After a whole week's tough schooling, there comes the European Heritage Days on this weekend. I and other two girls took a TGV travel to Reims, where the French Kings get crowned.

Reims is much more quiet and relaxed than Paris. It's slow and warm, explains the tradition value of European small towns. I guess Paris is also like this 400 years ago. Of course, except the carousel.

Porte de Mars, means "The Gate of Mars". Reims is the city of the king, and the king shows off his power by his military.

The statue of Louis XV stands in the heart of Reims, on the Palace de Royal (Royal Plaza).

The Cathedral of Reims. Unbelievably, the engraving on both the interior and the wall are even more elegant than Notre Dame. It has breathtakingly grace.

It's sunday, so there is a Mass. I joined and it's really shocking. It was not my first time to join a Christian activity, but in such a cathedral on such a day, this experience is unforgettably amazing and joyful.

Reims do not only have the cathedral, Palais de Tau (Tau Palace) is also a place to go. Every king who came to Reims to get crowned stay at here. 

Now the Palais de Tau is not belong to royal family anymore. Today's palais combines the traditional arts with modern art.

Reims produces great champagne.

I believe these two portraits explain the French women best: they can as independent as tough as the heroine Jeanne d'Arc, and also can be as soft as the statue below. I appreciate them, because they do have their own mode, they lead world's fashion while they do not recognize themselves.

Guimet & Eiffel: Mix & Match

Stay up late working yesterday... Because today is SATURDAY!!!!!!!!!! The weekend is coming!!!!!!!

 

La Place de Iéla, Iéla square. Today here had a market that merchandising food, clothes and flowers. It is said that such weekend market charges less than in supermarkets, and the quality is rather good. Pity that I know too little French to buy things in the market, so I made my visit to the market a part of sightseeing rather than a purchasing tour.

They sold really gorgeous flowers. French people like flowers so much that they always decorate their windowsills and balconies with bunches of flowers no matter how small the windowsills and balconies are.

I happened to walk through President Wilson Avenue. There are another street called New-York Avenue near this avenue. I guess the US embassy is just around. Anyway, in Paris, they have metro stations called "Franklin Roosevelt""Stalin"and "Clemenceau", which is so interesting.

Guimet Asian Museum, the first museum I visited in Paris, was founded by a famous collector Emile Guimet around 1899. He had large amount collections of Asian Art, mainly sculptures and small artifacts. Here in Guimet Museum, they have the Cambodian collections. I'd been to Cambodia once back in 2008, and I found that in Siem-Reap, where world heritage Angkor Wat and Angkor City located, many sculptures and curved stones were missing... Now I know where they exactly are.

Guimet also exhibit artifacts from other Asian countries like India, Thiland, Laos, Japan, Nepal, Afganistan and China. They are also extraordinarily amazing... When I was facing the Buddhas and other collections, I dreamed of they were all alive and bring me to explore a brand new world in another time and space....

After the breath-taking visit to the Guimet Museum, it's time for EIFFEL!!!!!!!

Eiffel is the modern Paris. The hard metal is not that cold, but rather fabulous and romantic. Especially in the sunshine like today... The beauty of today's Eiffel is far beyond my words...
